Write Some Wrongs!

03/21/2008 7-8 PM
Cornwall Public Library, 30 Pine Street, Cornwall, CT US

Sponsored by Iraq Moratorium: Cornwall Edition

MD #7 Cornwall CTThe Cornwall Moratorium network is asking everyone in town who is concerned about the war in Iraq to take a simple act on March 21, the day of the monthly Iraq Moratorium:

Write our congressman, Rep. Christopher Murphy (and anyone else you would like) a letter telling him WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART ABOUT THE IRAQ WAR and what you want him to do about it. Join us to write letters about the war together.

We’ve now had six monthly “Cornwall Editions” of the Iraq Moratorium. We’ve successfully realized many of the ideas that we discussed at our first meeting.

At the March 21 meeting we will also have a planning discussion of next steps to end the war.

*How do we make opposition to the war effective in the context of the elections?

*How do we make the war impossible to ignore?

Reports, Updates, Comments

Iraq Moratorium: Cornwall Edition

This was one of our smaller events. We asked folks to gather together at the Cornwall Public Library to write letters about the war to our elected officials. Between 15 and 20 (we'll count next time!) of us assembled and wrote what was in our hearts about Iraq to Representative Chris Murphy and Senators Dodd and Lieberman and mailed the letters to their local offices.

Ironically, only Lieberman, one of the war's biggest cheerleaders, bothered to send a response to his constituents, even if it was a form letter. But we will persevere, and continue--every month--to send these folks who are supposed to represent us a short report on Moratorium Day to let them know that the people of Cornwall want this war ended!
